Turkey’s first domestic communication satellite, Türksat 6A, will be launched into space in 2024.
The national communication satellite platform Türksat 6A is being developed by a consortium of Turkish Aerospace, ASELSAN, TÜBİTAK UZAY and CTech.
CTech, which operates in the fields of defense, security, aviation, space, telecom and broadcasting, produces telemetry and telecommand subsystem in the Türksat 6A project.
What is telemetry and telecommand subsystem?
SATELLITE TELEMETRY TRANSMITTER
The telemetry transmitter is designed for use on geostationary satellites and transmits telemetry data generated on the satellite as phase modules to ground stations.
This telemetry data includes mission-critical data such as the operating status of the equipment on the satellite or the exact orientation of the satellite. The Telemetry Transmitter, which operates in Ku-Band, is a broadband product with the ability to change frequency in orbit in line with today’s technology. It can be configured and operate as both a Telemetry Transmitter and a Beacon Transmitter.
SATELLITE TELECOMMAND RECEIVER
The Telecommand receiver is designed for use on geostationary satellites and receives and demodulates satellite control commands sent from the ground station and relays them to the satellite management unit, which operates the commands.
The time-signalized control commands help to control functions such as the movement of the satellite and the switching on and off of other equipment on the satellite. Operating at Ku-Band frequencies, the Telecommand Receiver is compatible with today’s technology.
